Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd every year to emphasize the importance of our planet and the need for its preservation. To mark the occasion, the children participated in a series of fun and meaningful activities designed to help them understand how to protect the Earth.
The students of EYP1 began with a refreshing nature walk, where they were introduced to the beauty of the natural world around them. This was followed by an interactive session, an Earth Day song and a creative craft activity.
The children of EYP2 used recycled material to create beautiful posters and shared ideas on how to care for the Earth. They enthusiastically expressed their thoughts on helping Mother Earth by saving trees, reducing pollution and keeping water bodies clean. A special highlight was the ‘Show and Tell’ segment, where students eagerly presented their suggestions on how to protect the planet. The day concluded with a thoughtful presentation and discussion, during which the children reflected on what actions make our Earth feel ‘happy’ or ‘sad.’
The students of EYP3 began their discussion by observing and comparing two contrasting pictures. They shared their observations, identifying why the Earth appeared sad in one picture and happy in the other. This was followed by an engaging activity where each child received a picture card and was asked to determine whether the action depicted would make the Earth happy or sad. The children then sorted the cards accordingly. They also created beautiful headgear with ‘Save the Earth’ written on it to raise awareness and show their support for the cause.
These activities were closely linked to Sustainable Development Goal15: Life on Land, encouraging children to understand the importance of caring for plants, animals and the land that sustains us.
Through these engaging experiences, the children not only celebrated Earth Day but also took their first step towards becoming responsible and environmentally conscious global citizens.
